Top St. Paddy’s Drink Recipes from Iconic Hotels in Chicago


Nobody does St. Patrick’s Day like Chicago.

From rowdy pub crawls to the city’s legendary Loop parade and the annual dying green of the Chicago River, there is nothing quite like St. Paddy’s in the Second City.

With the holiday coming up, we wanted to share a few great recipe and cocktail ideas from Chicago’s most famous hotels.

Below, you will find recipes classic Irish dishes and paired cocktails from Waldorf Astoria, Palmer House and Hilton.


St. Paddy’s Day Specials


For St. Patrick’s Day, Waldorf Astoria Chicago will be featuring an appetizer/cocktail duo in Bernard’s Bar for $25.  Available March 17 – March 20.

Bangers and Eggs: Quail Egg, Irish sausage, Crispy Soda Bread Crumbs, Petite Shamrock Greens


Paddy in Chicago

o   1 ½ oz. Michael Collins Irish Whiskey

o   1 oz. Koval Bourbon Whiskey (made in Chicago)

o   ¼ oz. Demerara Syrup

o   4 dashes Regan’s Orange Bitters

o   2 dashes Chocolate Bitters

Instructions: Build in mixing glass.  Add ice and stir for 30 seconds. Pour into rocks glass with big ice cube. Garnish with orange swath.


Hilton Chicago

o   1 ½ oz. 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey

o   ¼ oz. Sweet Vermouth

o   Dash of bitters

o   2 dashes Chocolate Bitters

Instructions: Served in a rock glass over ice with a cherry garnish.


Tall Ginger

o   1 oz. Jameson’s Irish Whiskey

o   ½ Fresh lime squeezed into glass

o   Fill glass with ginger ale

Instructions: Served in a tall glass over rocks with a lime garnish.
