Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday and comes with some of the best family time of the year. Football, family time and good food all combine to bring all your loved ones together and enjoy the great fall weather and comfort foods you have come to love.

Many families enjoy roasted turkey with homemade stuffing while others enjoy chicken and cornbread dressing. In addition to a healthy dose of poultry, a plethora of side dishes with all their tangy flavors and distinctive fall flavors complement the table.

  • Thanksgiving Cocktail: Gin has a light botanical flavor that goes well with the many sides of a Thanksgiving dinner as well as the bird itself. Any gin cocktail will pair well with the savory flavor of roasted turkey, but this Thanksgiving cocktail is a special treat. To make a Thanksgiving cocktail you will need equal shots of gin, dry vermouth and apricot brandy. Throw in a healthy splash of fresh lemon juice and a maraschino cherry, and you have a refreshing cocktail that is perfect for your Thanksgiving dinner.
  • Sangria: A nice sangria can pair well with a turkey feast. Mix the sangria up a few hours in advance so the flavors can blend together and the fruit can be infused with the flavor as well. This nice apple sangria is a great cocktail for Thanksgiving dinner. Mix a bottle of inexpensive red wine with ½ cup of brandy, 1 ½ cups of apple cider, and ¼ cup of fresh orange juice. Add the juice of one lemon and three cinnamon sticks. Chop up two apples for a fall flavor and add club soda to taste. Garnish with slices of orange.
  • Cranberry Margaritas: This fall twist on a favorite cocktail will make Thanksgiving dinner extra festive. Mix 1 ½ cups of 100% cranberry juice with six ounces of tequila. Add six ounces of lime juice and ½ cup Triple Sec. Mix together and serve over ice in sugar rimmed cocktail glasses. Cranberry margaritas always liven up the festivities!
  • Brandy and Pineapple Punch: Brandy and Pineapple punch is a light, fruity punch that matches up with your Thanksgiving meal with ease. It is super simple to make ahead and let it chill until the guests arrive. Mix 12 ounces of brandy, 8 ounces of pineapple juice, three ounces each of lime juice and simple syrup and a pinch of nutmeg. Let this mix chill. When ready to serve, add 10 ounces of cold club soda. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon wheels.
